Putting food on the table

An innovative youth project based in the heart of Petersfield is appealing for local businesses to donate healthy meals for young carers club nights.

The King’s Arms runs three different club nights for young carers each month, offering young people the chance to have time out from caring for their loved ones, through fun activities and games.

The meal donation can be in the form of a pre-cooked meal ready to heat up on the evening of the club and serve, a monetary donation specifically for buying food for the evening, a meal out somewhere as a treat, or the ingredients for a meal to be made at The King’s Arms.

Megan Black, from East Hampshire Young Carers, explained: “Having a meal together is a very special part of our evening with the young carers. Without the help of generous local businesses and kind members of the public, we would struggle to cater for the young carers each week. That’s why this appeal is so important; for us to be able to offer the children a meal that they get so much more from than just nutrition.”
