Cooking up a treat
Culinary skills were in the spotlight as MasterChef winner Jane Devonshire officially unveiled the new Perins Café in Alresford.
After the opening, Jane visited Year 9 GCSE food classes at the school to answer questions about MasterChef and cook for pupils.
Jane made cheesy meatballs in rich tomato sauce, then showed pupils how to make chocolate whoopie pies, which she had prepared at home. These were suitable for coeliacs and used marshmallows as a filling.
Headteacher Steve Jones said: “It was wonderful to welcome Jane to Perins for such an exciting day for the school. We would like to extend our thanks to Jane for giving up her precious time to attend the opening and give cookery workshops to the students who thoroughly enjoyed this unforgettable experience.”
