The ride to Rio!
Show your support for the Ride to Rio and help Cosham’s Queen Alexandra (QA) Hospital raise funds for a specialist piece of kit to help patients.
QA’s neuro physiotherapy team are aiming to raise £7,000 for a specialist therapy bike for their patients to use as part of their rehabilitation. This will enable people to start moving and exercising sooner whilst in hospital which is proven to improve their mobility later in life as they recover from a brain injury or stroke. The bike can also be used when sat in a wheelchair making it more accessible to the patient.
To raise the money, the team are cycling a total of 6,000 miles, which is the distance between Portsmouth to Rio, to tie in with the Olympic Games.
On Tuesday 16th August, from 8am-8pm the Neuro Physio Team will be holding a ‘Ride to Rio 12hr Cyclathon’ in the main atrium of QA. They will be continuously cycling for 12 hours and will be encouraging people to try out the specialist therapy bike.
