Valuable Volunteers - The Directory Group

Valuable volunteers

Hundreds of volunteers dedicate many hours of their time across Rowans Hospice and Rowans Trading Company, supporting the work of paid staff and ensuring that the hospice can continue to provide its vital services.

The Rowans Hospice engages volunteers in a wide variety of roles, some of which are patient-focused while others are more behind the scenes, but certainly no less important.

Crucially, volunteers give their time freely and it is this that enables the hospice to become more innovative, effective and efficient in its provision of care within the community, without additional financial burdens. In return, volunteers have a sense of belonging, renewed confidence, social support networks and invariably, new or enhanced skill sets.

Hospice volunteer Sue Welch explains:  “Giving time is precious in our busy lives but I would recommend it at Rowans Hospice as it gives you so much in return: friendship, appreciation and lots of laughter! I always leave on a high!”
