Butser Ancient Farm is hosting a hands-on Try It! Day
Butser Ancient Farm is hosting a hands-on Try It! Day on Friday 28 July.
Part of the Festival of Archaeology, the largest celebration of archaeology in the world with hundreds of events nationwide, this event gives everyone the chance to get stuck into a range of archaeological activities, including cooking, wattling, Roman Legion, face painting, costumes, felting, head dresses, bushcraft, thatching, wildlife and much more.
During Try It! Day, people will be able to learn more about archaeology and try new things with their friends and family, all within the beautiful setting of the South Downs National Park.
Creative Developer Tiffany Francis says,
‘Try It! Day is a fantastic way to engage our visitors with archaeology whilst having a lot of fun at the same time. If you haven’t been to the farm or you’re keen to get a flavour of what the world of archaeology is all about, this is the perfect event for you. We hope to welcome old friends and new visitors as we kick start the summer holiday.’
Try It! Day takes place on Friday 28 July from 10am – 5pm. Entrance prices are £8 adult/£7 concession/£4 child and under fives FREE. For more information visit www.butserancientfarm.co.uk. The Festival of Archaeology is now in its 27th year and is coordinated by the Council for British Archaeology, the UK’s archaeology charity and funded by Historic England.
Butser Ancient Farm is proud to be part of this prestigious event which matches its own goals to widen involvement in archaeology and put people in touch with their own heritage.
