Denise Lloyd, from The Directory Group and Beautiful South Magazine, discovers a new tearooms certain to accommodate high expectations.
The Beatons Tearooms of Petersfield offers a stunning selection of leaf teas, combined with a delicious range of food, in an environment screaming elegance.
Open every day the small and friendly tearoom presented a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Staff were warming, welcoming, well informed and attentive. Their drive and passion for guests was highly valued.
Engaging with people from across the community it is evident the tearooms are present to do so much more than just business.
Joined by ‘Queen of Bloggers’ Laura Porter we appreciated the range of different foods and drink available.
With over 30 loose leaf teas, there was guaranteed to be something to whet everyone’s appetite.
The table on which we were seated drank a white, green and black tea.
White Peony, Jasmine Blossom and Duchess Earl Grey were chosen to taste.
The Jasmine Blossom was a selection I chose as a step out of my comfort zone. It had an aroma inviting to the consumer.
And the Duchess Earl Grey, known as Beatons Petersfield’s house tea, was delicious and vibrant to the taste buds.
This came with a tiny glass timer to ensure each pot is brewed to perfection.
As a coffee lover, I was impressed to learn a fine array of speciality brews is also on offer.
Looking around the room the relaxing environment was stylish but also cosy. This comparison can be a challenging find but Beatons place the two together thoroughly well.
If someone is looking for an idyllic location to relax and unwind over a pot of their favourite loose leaf tea this is the place to be.
We ordered The Ashcombe, named after Cecil Beaton's home, who was a well-known photographer, and the gluten-free ‘Ascot' - a nod to Beaton's stage set for My Fair Lady.
The sandwiches were fluffy and fresh accompanied by tiny quiches.
The cake selection was heaven, including the amazing carrot cake, which was to die for – along with scones, clotted cream and jam too.
To summarise, Beatons Tearooms offers a specially curated selection of books to discover something new to delight, or treat yourself or a friend to a luxurious Afternoon High Tea.
If you are seeking a fabulous experience then this is a brilliant place to start.
