Making a sweet sound at ladies chorus

The Spirit-of-the-South ladies chorus sang to their hearts content last year and say they are excited for the next twelve months ahead.

Recently, the choir had a ball at the European Barbershop Convention, held at Bournemouth International Centre, where 46 local choruses entered.

The team from Hampshire and the surrounding area say they were delighted to come 16th in the competition.

A spokesperson from the group said: “Although being last on stage to sing, we were given a very warm reception, and thoroughly enjoyed our six minutes of ‘Fame’

“We were privileged to watch some amazing choruses, and the standard, as usual, was very high.”

The group teach that singing has such a calming and energising effect on people.

The singers rehearse every Tuesday evening, at Havant Methodist Church, Havant, Hampshire, from 7-30 until 10pm.

Their Open Evenings are held on the first Tuesday of every month from 7:30pm until 9pm. Call 02392-451220 or 02392-641997 for more information.
