Dogstival delighted to be supporting RSPCA in first year

With thousands of dogs set to descend on the New Forest this May, Dogstival is delighted to announce its support for the RSPCA, the UK’s leading animal welfare charity. The partnership not only aims to help raise funds to support the RSPCA’s work, but also provide dog-owners with information on welfare and responsible dog ownership across the weekend.

With the New Forest being home to one of the highest proportions of dog owners in the UK, a reported *39% of households having at least one dog, the partnership provides the RSPCA with a ready-made audience to engage with. Through a range of initiatives, including demonstrations and talks from canine experts that will feature their current #DogKind campaign which highlights behavioural issues such as separation anxiety.

Set in the stunning surroundings of Pylewell Park Estate and taking place on 18th and 19th May 2019 the festival is being hosted by local resident, nature-loving TV presenter and renowned dog lover Chris Packham who is also an RSPCA Vice President.

“We are delighted to have a charity of the RSPCA’s stature joining the inaugural Dogstival weekend. Their tireless campaigning for animal welfare and especially rescuing, protecting and helping rehome dogs across England and Wales is something we wholeheartedly support. One of Dogstival’s aims is to help owners understand more about their four-legged best friend. Of course, diet and exercise are important, but we want to look at the mental wellbeing and care dogs needs from puppy through to adult which dovetails perfectly with the RSPCA’s current #DogKind campaign.” Commented Dogstival Event Director Richard Nowell.

With some of the UK’s leading dog display teams and free ‘have a go activities’ that includes the recent Ace Flyball Team winners from Crufts, over 180 stands and activities for children, Dogstival will creating the best day out a dog its family could wish for. There’s also an educational message across the weekend highlighting behaviour issues that are common in households and to help demonstrate this, Dogstival is creating a specially designed ‘behaviour stage’; a set designed house, garden and giant LED screen to allow dog behavioural experts to better explain these issues.

RSPCA Events Manager Anita Morris said: "We are really excited to be a part of the first ever Dogstival and are looking forward to introducing everyone there to the work of the RSPCA. We know that the love between owners and their dogs is unconditional and with so many dog-lovers at the event we hope our #DogKind campaign helps owners to make sure their pooch pals are the happiest that they can be. It is set to be a lot of fun for all the family - the dogs included!"

With the New Forest a magnet for visitors, it’s also a protected national park and home to wild roaming ponies or cattle. The marshlands are breeding grounds for rare birds and the coastline stretches for over 40miles making it one of the most treasured places to visit in the country. That special environment combined with the festivals ‘responsible ownership’ message means the RSPCA can also talk about wider animal issues to a passionate audience.

The wow factor that sets Dogstival apart is their location – Pylewell Park. Steeped in history as a grand 17th century house, positioned on the south coast of the New Forest with a large agricultural and sporting estate. The estate is approximately 2,000 acres with a mix of woodland, a 15-acre lake with around 70 acres of open lawn. It also has its own private beach, which four-legged visitors will have access to – a first for a UK dog festival.

Dogstival takes place from 10am to 6pm on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2019 at Pylewell Park, Lymington, Hampshire, SP41 5SJ. Tickets are priced £13.50 for Adults, £7.50 Children aged 6-16 years, under 6’s go free and are on sale now at Dogstival.co.uk.
