Rowans Hospice announces the return of their popular children’s event, ‘Starlit Walk’

Starlit Walk is a sponsored walk of either 1.5 or 3 miles, taking place on Thursday, 26 October 2023, from 17:00 hrs at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Children will have the opportunity to explore the iconic sights of the Dockyard by twilight while remembering loved ones they have lost. The evening promises a wealth of entertainment both before and during the walk, and every participant will be presented with a special Starlit Walk medal upon crossing the finish line. St Ann’s Church will also be opening its doors, welcoming all children to light a candle and take a few moments to reflect upon and remember their loved ones. Fancy dress is welcome, but not essential and children are encouraged to wear bright and cheerful neon outfits, illuminating the pathways through the Historic Dockyard for an unforgettable experience. "We are absolutely delighted to announce the date for this year's highly anticipated Starlit Walk, and we are eager to share this unforgettable evening with families in our local community," said Yvonne Penny-Filewod, the Charity's Income Generation Lead. "We eagerly anticipate the return of familiar faces who have joined us for this event in previous years, as well as welcoming newcomers to this fantastic evening." All children aged up to and including 18 years are invited to participate. Tickets are £5 per child (one accompanying adult ticket is FREE) and can be booked via the Rowans’ website: Participants are also encouraged to generate a suggested sponsorship of £25. All contributions play a vital role in enabling Rowans to continue providing crucial support to people affected by life-limiting illnesses in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. Yvonne concludes; “Rowans offers an invaluable service to the local community, helping people with lifelimiting illnesses live as well as possible. By taking part in the Starlit Walk, you not only get to enjoy an unforgettable evening but also contribute to the sustainability of the Hospice. Join us and book your tickets today, and together we can make a meaningful difference and be here for when families need us most."
