Amelie & Friends
“Incredible food and faultless service”, “A perfect meal in a perfect place” - just two of the reviews that tempted us to visit Amelie & Friends restaurant in Chichester…
The moment we entered the restaurant - a lovely setting overlooking the beautiful walled courtyard garden - we were greeted by friendly staff and welcomed into the relaxed ambience.
We were shown to our table and offered the wine list from which we chose a bottle of 2011 organic Piquepoul/Sauvignon Belle Mare wine (£20), locally sourced from small family producers. (If you love the wine, you can buy a bottle from the takeaway menu!)
Just reading through the menu sent our taste buds tingling, which is why we couldn’t resist an appetiser. We shared the deliciously crunchy Bang Bang Pork Crackling roasted in Salt & Pepper, Cumin & Coriander (£2.50) which was enough to leave us wanting more!
Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long for our starters: Thinly Sliced Treacle-Cured Fillet Beef (£7), beautifully complemented with potato cake filled with rocket and parmesan, and a zingy, tangy, delicious Marinated Duck Breast with sour mango salad and duck crackling (£8).
When it came to the mains we noticed that the steak was a popular choice, but we ordered the Sea Bream and Salmon Goujon with Crushed Minted Peas, Fluffy Chips and House Tartare Sauce (£12.50) and the Pan-Fried Fillet of Sea Bass with Pastas Bravas, Caponata and Lemon Aioli (£14.50). Both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted exquisite.
Although we didn’t really have any room left for dessert, we managed to squeeze in the Affogato Homemade Ice Cream, Honeycomb and a shot of coffee (£5), and the stunning Strawberry Parfait with Vanilla Shortbread and Confit Rhubarb (£6).
All in all, Amelie & Friends is a gorgeous restaurant, and it is obvious to see why it is one of the Sunday Telegraph's Top 500 Restaurants in Britain and Ireland.
