Massive New Gym Opens at Havant Leisure Centre
6.25am on a mid-Summer morning and there is a queue of excited fitness enthusiasts waiting for the doors to open at Havant Leisure Centre’s new facility.
The new Gym is the latest development for Horizon Leisure Centres, the charity responsible for operating both Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres on behalf of partners Havant Borough Council, who recently extended their operating leases until 2042. The Gym, which was officially opened by the Mayor of Havant Marjorie Smallcorn and Horizon’s Chairman, Peter Crane, is 5 times larger than the previous facility providing increased capacity for the community to embrace a healthier lifestyle. It has been well received by members with fantastic comments to staff and across social media platforms.
Member, Taylor Northeast said ‘The new Gym is great with lots more new equipment and space to work out. I love it!’ Horizon’s Chief Executive, Howard Broad said “We are delighted that the new Gym at Havant Leisure Centre is now open. The excitement has been building for some
time amongst members eager to use this fantastic new community facility. At 11,400 ft2, over 180 fitness stations, a jogging track and a separate programmable area for ladies-only, teenagers and family-only sessions, the new Gym offers something for everyone and is the largest in the area.
We are particularly pleased that we have been able to provide this quality facility on time, in budget and most importantly for our members, at the same value price as before. So far we have been bowled over by the response from the community as sales of new memberships have far exceeded our expectations”.
The charity, who will celebrate the 10- year anniversary of the opening of the Horizone Play Centre at Havant Leisure Centre this summer, are not stopping there as plans are at an advanced stage to provide an equally impressive extended Gym and a new Children’s Indoor Play Centre at Waterlooville Leisure Centre next year.
