SAVE MONEY AROUND THE HOUSE IN 2015
Itʼs January, Christmas has been and gone – our pockets seem to be a
lot lighter and our bank accounts have seen better days. So, here are
five simple ways you can save cash this year…
Look after The Pennies: You know how the saying goes ‘look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves, and it’s true. Keep a jar in your house for your loose change; you’ll be surprised at how much you can save. When filled, take the jar to your local supermarketʼs Coinstar machine and put it towards your monthly shop.
Save Energy: Changing to energy efficient bulbs in your house can really cut the costs of electricity bills in the long run. You can also save significant amounts of energy and water by only running full loads of clothes in your washing machine or dishes in your dishwasher. Also, switch off lights when you leave a room, it all adds up.
Make Your Own Packed Lunch: It’s so easy to waste money on meal deals and grab food out when you’re on your lunch break, but you can save money by bringing your own lunch to work. Make a sandwich, salad or even a pasta bake the night before, it’ll be much cheaper than buying out.
Search for Freebies: Websites such as Freecycle and Gumtree are often used to advertise items people are giving away. It’s always worth looking to see if what you need is being offered for free online before you head out to the shops.
Write a Shopping List: Resist the supermarket impulse buys. To stop yourself filling your trolley with things you don’t need, plan your meals for the week, write out a shopping list and stick to it, youʼll really notice the savings.
