Moonlit Memories Walk - The Directory Group

Registration for The Rowans Hospice Moonlit Memories Walk opens at 12 noon on Thursday 5th March with event sponsor Biscoes Solicitors officially launching the event at their offices in North End.

This is the eighth year that the Moonlit Memories Walk has been held in Portsmouth and is still the biggest fundraiser for the Purbrook-based charity. With the support of Biscoes, over the last seven years the event has raised £1.7m towards local hospice care.

The Moonlit Memories Walk takes place on Saturday, 20th June 2015. Starting at 11pm from Castle Field, Southsea, there is a choice of a 12-mile or a 6-mile route along Southsea Seafront, through Old Portsmouth and into the Historic Dockyard where HMS Victory will be illuminated. The walk is open to everyone aged 13 or over.

Hannah Wilding, Events & Community Fundraising Manager at The Rowans Hospice, said: “The Moonlit Memories Walk is a key event in the Hospice calendar which enables people to walk in memory of someone special. We are incredibly grateful to Biscoes Solicitors who generously support The Rowans Hospice by sponsoring this major event which means that all the sponsorship money raised by participants goes towards the cost of Hospice services.”

It is not a race and many people take their time to light a candle in the Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral. The event is supported by a large team of volunteer marshals who encourage walkers around the course.

All walkers receive a T-shirt, medal, refreshments, and goodies. Registration is £20 per person with a sponsorship target of £100. By raising this sponsorship, walkers are providing vital funding to support services at The Rowans Hospice. Anyone registering before Tuesday 7th April will be entered into a draw to win Nuffield Health gym membership. To register, visit or call 023 9223 8533.
