For any of you that know what it’s like to suffer from MS, you’ll know how devastating its effects can be, on both the sufferer, and their friends and family. Here at the Directory Group we know it only too well, as a long time friend of ours, Simon Chan, was diagnosed with MS in March 2014. Simon has sadly had to give up his position as a maths teacher at Chichester High School for Boys (CHSB) due to the symptoms of his condition, which include problems with his vision, energy levels, cognitive function and balance and coordination.
Currently, there is no cure for MS, but the latest developments in stem cell therapy have been shown to help reverse the symptoms of it. Although painful and difficult, it’s so far the best treatment we have against MS. However, at present there isn’t any stem cell treatment available for MS in the UK. We’d like to raise awareness of Simon’s condition, as he has a goal to raise $50,000 (or £32,000), to be able to travel to Mexico in 2016 – one of only 12 countries in the world where this treatment is available. There’s a charity event planned for Saturday, 12th December at 7.30pm, at West Town Inn. However, we want to give Simon every chance of reaching his target and getting the treatment he needs.
So we would love for as many people as possible to donate whatever they can, no matter how small, to the following charity fundraising page: www.wok.tw. Every pound donated will help him towards his goal – please give what you can, and spread the word! With thanks, The team at the Directory Group
