Fresh makeover for school cafe
From an ageing 1960’s cafeteria to a state-of-the-art facility for all to enjoy, Cowplain Community School’s restaurant has been transformed.
The makeover comes hot on the heels of a much-improved Ofsted report for the school, in Hart Plain Avenue, giving teachers and pupils reason to celebrate.
Meon Valley MP George Hollingbery paid a visit to officially unveil the new café, following a welcome address from headteacher Ian Gates.
Mr Hollingbery was invited to tour the new facility and taste some of the food on offer with the school’s kitchen manager Helen Sandham.
The new, open-plan facilities include dedicated servery areas, a jacket potato oven and professional hot and cold displays. The convection ovens are the same as those used in The Shard.
Mr Gates said: “We are so pleased that we now have this fantastic facility for our students to use. It provides us with a state-of-the-art kitchen as well as a modern environment for students to eat in, together with a flexible space to use for theatre and music productions, open evenings and community use.”
