Dedicated to helping the homeless

A local charity dedicated to helping the homeless is set to receive support from the Emsworth Business Association (EBA) throughout 2016.

Stonepillow, founded in 1989, provides a lifeline for homeless people with hubs, hostels and supported accommodation in Chichester, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

EBA will be working with its members and the wider community to both raise awareness and funds for Stonepillow, culminating in the annual Emsworth Black and White Charity Dinner on Friday 11th November at the Brookfield Hotel.

In the past year, more than 200 people have accessed Stonepillow’s services and more than 100 have moved into long-term accommodation.

The charity also recently opened Stonepillow Lodge in conjunction with St Richard’s Hospital, a new facility of five en-suite bedrooms, to house homeless people discharged from hospital.

Stonepillow chief executive Sylvie Johnston said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as EBA’s Charity of the Year and are very much looking forward to working with this dynamic group to help raise valuable funds that will help Stonepillow to support homeless and vulnerable people in our community.”

EBA chair Giles Babb commented: “Apart from the annual Black and White Charity Ball we intend to focus on Stonepillow during this year’s Emsworth British Food Fortnight and get behind their ‘Big Eatout’ initiative.”
