Local volunteers showed their support for a nationwide campaign by cleaning up their community.
In celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday, Horndean was given a spring clean, as litter pickers from across the village joined forces to collect around 40 bags of rubbish.
The event was supported by East Hampshire District Council and its contractor The Landscape Group, who provided bin bags, litter pickers, hi-vis jackets and took the rubbish away after collection.
Event organiser Sally Thomas said: “We were amazed by how much we managed to collect in such a short time but it has really helped make a difference to how those parts of the village look.
“I am delighted there is so much enthusiasm for keeping the local villages clean and I want to thank the 15 volunteers who worked so hard, and EHDC and The Landscape Group who supported us so well.”
