Helping families

The Rowans Hospice is a local charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with life-limiting illnesses in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire.

The newly-launched Rowan the Meerkat toy aims to raise awareness of the Rowan's Meerkat Service, which provides ongoing support to assist children and young people up to the age of 18 who have a significant adult with a life-limiting illness or, who have been bereaved of an adult close to them.

Through guidance, support to schools and other agencies, and when appropriate, individual work with children and young people, the Rowan’s Meerkat Service aims to ensure families receive the right support and meet wherever they feel most comfortable - this might be at The Rowans Hospice, at home or at a child’s school.

You can support the Rowan’s Meerkat Service with a donation, and throughout the year the hospice will give children who access bereavement support their own Rowan the Meerkat toy.
