Get to know your neighbours
A family fun day is offering the opportunity for local residents to get to know their neighbours, while celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday.
St Philip’s Church, Hawthorn Crescent, Cosham is organising the event for the Highbury Estate community on Sunday 12th June from 1-4pm.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and some food to share as part of the national Big Lunch initiative.
Plenty of activities are set to take place both inside the church hall and on the field between St Philip’s Church and the Highbury Community Centre on Hawthorn Crescent, including a bouncy castle, stalls, treasure hunt, raffle, live music, games and a kids’ fancy dress competition.
Meanwhile, inside the church, the history of the Highbury Estate takes centre stage in a special exhibition featuring photographs, video footage, newspaper clippings and other artefacts showing what life was like in previous decades.
If you have any items you could contribute to the exhibition, feel free to get in touch. All items will be carefully looked after and returned to their owners after the exhibition.
To donate, bake or a buy a cake for the event or get involved in any other way, contact Nicky Pybus, pioneer minister for Cosham and Wymering, on 07946 808833 or email email@example.com
