Fun and friendship
The King’s Arms is an innovative youth project in the heart of Petersfield, which runs a range of clubs for different age groups with one shared goal: helping local young people to reach their potential and know their worth.
The charity runs three different clubs for young carers who provide care for ill or disabled family members, and recently took 24 young carers between the ages of 8 and 13 on a residential trip to Mill on the Brue in Somerset, for a three-day and two-night stay.
Mandy May, young carers project manager at The King’s Arms, explained: “We wanted to take the kids away for a break from their caring duties and give them the opportunity to have a fun and exciting time, whilst challenging themselves physically and mentally helping to increase their resilience.
“A great time was had by all, we were kept busy all day long, fears were faced and friendships were made and staff and young people came home exhausted.”
