A local success story
The Directory Group’s Poppy Baker lifts the lid on a local success story: the Hogs Back Brewery…
Why not try something new this summer? Tucked away in the village of Tongham, just outside Farnham, the Hogs Back Brewery offers history, heritage and a huge variety of beers to try or buy.
The small, family-owned brewery has been up and running since 1992, in 18th century farm buildings, that over the years have stored everything - from wheat to hogs!
At the brewery, they strongly believe that great beer comes from the finest ingredients, real brewing and lots of passion.
Housed in 18th century farm buildings, the brewery is traditional in design and offers an interesting brewery tour. During the tour, you will learn how they brew their beer, see their hop garden, and visit their shop, all the while sampling a vast range of their delightful beers… so a lift home is strongly recommended!
The shop – which houses up to 300 beers – is open seven days a week, allowing you plenty of time to nip over at some point during your busy week.
The brewery team is always on hand to offer any help or advice you may need, such as recommending a beer or teaching you how to tap and vent a cask.
This creates a relaxed and friendly retail experience, which is further enhanced by you being allowed to test any of the beers they have on draught - name a supermarket where you can do that!
The shop stocks an extensive range of bottled beer, from regional breweries such as St Austell and Williams Bros, to international beers such as Belgian beers and US craft beers. The range goes from traditional beers such as Hogs Back T.E.A - the first beer ever brewed at Hogs Back - to ground-breaking new beers such as Cave Creek Chilli beer and Montezuma’s chocolate lager.
