Making the step up
The King’s Arms is an innovative youth project in the heart of Petersfield, which runs a range of clubs for different age groups with one shared goal: helping local young people to reach their potential and know their worth.
This summer, the charity ran a programme aimed at preparing young people for the step up to secondary school, featuring craft and activities, sport and games, plus team building and problem solving.
Mandy May, targeted programme leader at The King’s Arms, said: “Everyone had great fun, made new friends, they said they learnt loads and felt more comfortable about moving up to secondary school. Plus they all said they will definitely be coming to all that is on offer at The Kings Arm’s in the future, where the staff are really kind and so much fun.”
The King’s Arms is open throughout the week at various times for different age groups, and also offers target groups for young carers and special needs, plus mentoring and inclusion support.
