Museum on the move
Petersfield Museum is on the move.
To mark the first step in the museum’s expansion into new premises at the Police Station, a celebration event is set to take place on Saturday 1st October, featuring trails, hard-hat tours of the Police Station and a historical bicycle parade.
Over the winter months, parts of the Police Station will be re-decorated and fitted to hold the museum’s collections, now in external storage, on the first floor, and on the ground floor, new galleries for Flora Twort’s paintings and the historic dress collection will be prepared.
The new museum will be open to the public from 4th April 2017, while Flora Twort’s former home – will be sold and returned to its original purpose.
To raise funds for this project, Petersfield Museum, in association with Ewbank’s Auctions, is also organising an antiques and collectibles valuation day at the Rose Room, Festival Hall on Friday 7th October.
The Police cells will be once more open to the public in the evenings of Friday and Saturday, 28th and 29th October, for a ‘Museums at Night’ event.
