Paws for Thought
Hi everyone, Barney here , writing my monthly column about life as The Directory Group dog…
It’s been busier than ever this last month at TDG, and I’ve had my work cut out trying to steal anyone’s snacks out of their bags in between lots of walks to the park – and of course, most importantly, my afternoon nap…
But what I’d like to mention this month is a fantastic local charity which uses us clever canines to help people in need.
Hounds for Heroes, based in Ramsdean, near Petersfield, provide special assistance dogs to people in the Armed Forces who are either injured or disabled.
They’ve even got their very own training centre to turn lovely well-behaved dogs (just like me!) into fully-trained assistance dogs who can lend a paw to help out with anything from opening doors to emptying the washing machine.
At the moment, Hounds for Heroes are looking for Puppy Parents to help puppies for 14-16 months, by going to training classes and one-to-one sessions, helping the puppies to learn the ropes.
What’s more, the charity provides all food, equipment, veterinary fees, insurance and reasonable travelling expenses while you’re looking after the puppy when attending training.
If you’re interested and want to help out this great charity, go to www.houndsforheroes.com
Thanks everyone, see you in a month’s time!
