Half-term fun in Hampshire
With half-term fast approaching, it’s time to start planning days out, events and activities to keep the kids amused and enjoy fun for all the family. Here’s some ideas and inspiration to get you started…
Bring your little monsters to Marwell Zoo this half term (Saturday 22nd – Sunday 30th October). There’s a whole host of spooktacular activities to enjoy throughout the week, including a pumpkin carving competition, pumpkin trail and skeleton train.
There’s more ghostly goings on over at the National Trust’s Uppark House & Garden. Try the spooky trail inspired by the monsters created by famous sci-fi novelist H.G Wells, who knew Uppark well. Get the whole family involved, and help solve the clues to the mystery.
And for a final dose of haunted happenings, pay a visit to Stansted Park in Rowlands Castle, where there’s three nights of fabulously fiendish family fun, including spooky storytelling, fire juggling and much more (29th-31st October). This year, there will be a fairy tale theme in the Servants’ Quarters, where each room will be dressed to show a different story. Make sure you have your cameras ready for some fantastic photo opportunities!
Take a trip to the King’s Theatre Southsea on Tuesday 25th October to see CBeebies' favourite double act, Chris and Pui, in a new stage show, featuring all the toys and characters from their hit TV programme ‘Show Me Show Me’. With songs, comedy sketches, a dash of magic and heaps of joining in, this is a family show for everyone to enjoy.
Watch the Watercress Line in Alresford transform in to a place of magic and mischief on the weekend of 29th-30th October. Take unlimited rides on the Wizard Express steam train and walk in Harry Potter's footsteps over the famous railway footbridge where he received his Hogwarts Express ticket in the film. Come dressed as a witch, wizard or Halloween spook and find out about all things magical!
