It's all happening...
Your essential guide to arts and entertainment across the local area this month. There’s something for everyone…
Go behind the scenes and see Southsea’s Kings Theatre as you’ve never seen it before on Saturday 5th November. The ever-popular tours offer access to parts of the building the public do not normally see, while one of the trustees gives an extensive history of the theatre.
Later in the month, the Kings Theatre stage plays host to Dirty Dancing, in a sensational new production of the worldwide smash hit, from Monday 16th to Saturday 19th November. The much-acclaimed musical features 35 hit songs, including ‘Hungry Eyes’, ‘Hey Baby’, ‘Do You Love Me?’ and the heart stopping ‘(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life’.
On Friday 11th November (8pm), The Spring in Havant welcomes multi-talented star Ray Quinn, celebrating the upcoming release of his new album.
Ray rose to fame when he took part in the 2006 series of X Factor, and went on to release his debut album, ‘Doing It My Way’, which entered the UK album charts at number one. Ray is also a West End star, having appeared in much-loved shows such as Grease, Dirty Dancing and Legally Blonde.
For fans of classical music, pay a visit to Petersfield’s Festival Hall on Thursday 17th November (7.30pm) for Petersfield Orchestra’s Autumn Concert - a sparkling programme of Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture, Schumann’s dramatic 4th Symphony, and Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, with Southampton-based violinist Anca Campanie as soloist.
On Monday 21st November, French Film Day returns at Langrish House, back by popular demand. The day includes coffee, followed by the film (Jean de Florette), and a two-course lunch with wine and coffee.
Over in Chichester, Alan Ayckbourn’s beautifully crafted and uproariously funny Relatively Speaking takes to the Festival Theatre stage from Tuesday 22nd – Saturday 26th November, starring Robert Powell and Liza Goddard.
