Taking to the runway
Keen fundraisers from across the county are set to lace up their trainers and take to the runway in aid of a vital local cause.
Southampton Airport’s Annual Runway Run, taking place on Sunday 25th June, will be raising funds for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) which brings an advanced critical care team to people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most.
Around 500 people are expected to tackle the 5km run, taking advantage of the unique opportunity to run along a real runway at daybreak while raising funds.
Available both day and night, 365 days a year, the Air Ambulance critical care team are called out many times a day to attend to road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents.
A highly skilled crew of doctors, paramedics and pilots can be at the scene of an incident within minutes, ready to deliver the same level of care that you would expect from a hospital emergency department.
Runners will need to register beforehand and the entry cost is £20 with all proceeds going to the airport Charity of the Year, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA).
