Alton Festival Season

A few events we suggest you check out in Alton during the festival season:

The Anglo Saxon Festival

On the 5th August, re-enactors will take to the stage again this year for their displays and performances as part of the Anglo-Saxon Festival in Alton. Place yourself and your family in the Anglo-Saxon way of life, find out more about their food, educate yourself about the craft work of the era and handle replica weapons. You will see the stunning metalwork of the time and learn how an Alton Buckle should really be worn. Entry to this educational festival is free. The Curtis Museum, High Street, Alton, Hampshire, GU34 1BA

The Cheese and Chilli Festival

Winchester will be welcoming The Cheese and Chilli Festival back to the nearby city from 19th-20th August. The event will be hosted in the beautiful setting of the North Walls Recreation Ground, making the day a feast for the eyes, as well as the belly. Tantilise your taste buds as you indulge in the wide range of cheeses and chillies on offer. The Demonstration Tent will be playing host to cooking workshops, educational talks and wine tasting. The Bar Flair local cocktail artists will also be demonstrating their skills exclusively at this Winchester event. Try a range of lager, brews and ciders at the local Beer Festival, which will be coinciding with this event all weekend long. And if you’re sick of eating and drinking, engage in the some of the live entertainment - music, stunt shows by Jez Avery, magic shows, falconry displays and performances from Punch & Judy. Attending this event will also result in supporting the local charity, Winchester Brendoncare. North Walls, Devils Island, Gordon Road, Winchester, SO23 8DJ
