Tart Zine Launch Party at The Charles Street Tap!
Tart Zine is an independent publication based in Petersfield which celebrates local talent. Launching on Thursday 7th September with an event at the Charles Street Tap, Tart Zine aims to unite Petersfield as a creative community, pushing forth young talent from various disciplines.
Poppy Baker and Ellie Higson, co-founders and editors of the zine said: “We believe Tart Zine is a truly interesting new development for life in Petersfield, providing young creatives with the chance to showcase their work in a professional yet friendly publication. We are hoping the launch party will be a unique event where people with similar interests can interact and enjoy the publication we have all worked hard to create.”
Poppy and Ellie decided to start the zine following the realisation that Petersfield and the surrounding areas had a huge amount of up-and-coming artistic talent – yet very few spaces to show it. “With the number of incredible artists and creatives we have locally, we couldn’t believe something like this hadn’t been done before.”
“We initially envisioned it as being a very small 24-page fashion and illustration zine, however throughout the development process we have taken on so many other wonderful people who wish to be featured. This has led to it becoming more of a 60+-page book with a wide range of disciplines – which is better than we could have ever imagined.”
The event begins at 7.00pm at the Charles Street Tap in Petersfield, and is free for all to enter. Copies of the zine will be on show and available to buy, along with some prints of the various artists’ work.
