RNLI Lifeboats Open Day A Success
Hayling RNLI Lifeboats Open Day was blessed with fine weather and 100’s of visitors who enjoyed the day and raised a lot of cash.
Open Day dawned in fine sunshine but a light shower dampened proceedings at 10:30 hrs, however fine weather returned and stayed all day. The visitors enjoyed seeing a range of services as the Fire Service, First Responders, and Coastguards brought displays and equipment. Both lifeboats launched three times and showed their paces, and early visitors at 11:00 hrs saw a spectacular display with the Search and Rescue helicopter leading a low pass over the station (pictured).
Piloting a model lifeboat and catch a bobbing plastic duck proved popular and a lot of tea and cake was consumed, not to mention Peperelli’s ice cream. Faces were painted, hair braided and a matching picture game on the Chichester Harbour Conservancy table led to a sweet reward!
We would like to thank all the visitors who came to see us who through their generosity in buying items and joining in the fun raised nearly £1900 and which we will use to go on keeping our shores and harbour safe to enjoy.
