Victory AC run for The Hayling RNLI
Once again the Victory AC Relay Marathon on August 20th raised funds for the Hayling RNLI Station which runners passed on their way round the Island.
John Gallagher (pictured) handed over a cheque for £415 which brought the total raised over the past 15 years to a superb £5215. In the same format as previous years members of the randomly selected teams ran a variety of individual distances but adding up to 26 miles for each team. The day was good for running with fine dry weather and no strong wind so the times were fast.
Receiving the cheque Simon Poulton, Watch Leader, and Peter Walmsley DLA, expressed their thanks to all the runners and organisers for their generous donation. The vital need for these donations was demonstrated a few hours later when the lifeboat crews rescued 3 men whose boat had capsized in 4m waves over Chichester Bar.
