Friday 1st December - Switching on the Christmas Lights & the arrival of Father Christmas
The fun starts from 5.15pm in St. Peters Square with community carol singing & music led by Rev. Julie Price featuring pupils from the village’s primary schools. One of Emsworth’s youngest school age pupils, Freddie Gates and one of our oldest residents Joan Stanley will switch on the Christmas lights with the Mayor of Havant, before the arrival of Father Christmas as he travels onto the Quay. Positioned on the Quay will be Emsworth’s very own unique Lobster pot Christmas tree which will be lit at approximately 6.15pm after which Santa’s Grotto* will be open and children of all ages are welcome and there will also be singing from The Cantando Choir. What better way to start the Christmas period? *a small charge of £2.00 per child
Saturday 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd December - Free Parking in Emsworth
In conjunction with Havant Borough Council’s support of ‘Small Business Saturday’, parking will be free in Emsworth for up to 3 hours on each Saturday. Come and support your local shops and enjoy the festive lights and the Lobster Pot Christmas Tree.
Saturday 16th December - Emsworth Christmas Market Day Featuring Hampshire Farmer’s Market
A special Christmas market from 10am until 1pm with Hampshire Farmers’ Market in St.Peters’ Square. A Christmas Fair and Santa’s grotto in the garden of Emsworth Cottage Hospital between 10am – 1pm organised by the local Lions Club and the friends of the hospital. There will also be special Festive offers in many of Emsworth’s shops.
Lobster & Carols round the Tree – after visiting the market wonder down to the Quay at 11.30am for a totally unique Christmas celebration. Emsworth’s ‘Village Voices’ will be singing Christmas Carols around the Lobster Pot Christmas Tree. Lobster Bisque will be available to enjoy and all proceeds will go to the RNLI.
Christmas Community Tea & Carol Singing - organised by the Emsworth Business Association – The Methodist Church – 2pm – 4pm. Songs and Carols from The Cantando Choir. Tickets £5 available from The Brookfield Hotel. All proceeds go to SSAFA.
Saturday 5th January 2018- Recycle your Christmas Tree for FREE
Michael Reed Tree Surgeons will in be St.Peter’s Square between 10am – 12noon - recycling Christmas Trees free of Charge. Bring your tree and then why not visit one of Emsworth’s fantastic Cafes or Public Houses - an ideal way to round off Christmas.
