Give something back and Join the Hayling Island Businessmen’s Club

‘Our passion is to support the Hayling Island community and the surrounding areas.’

That’s the message of the Hayling Island Businessmen’s Club, which is formed by local men in and out of business.

Supporting those less fortunate through fundraising events and activities the team continually have an active presence in community life.

With a large amount of their work being focused on supporting charity, their services have positively impacted a wide range of different people.

Recently, the club purchased a community defibrillator, regularly hold annual events such as an annual BBQ, and the annual Pig Racing event, and have hosted other activities to raise money for its work.

Malcolm Newnes, who is a volunteer at the club, says “We really enjoy doing so much for people across the area.

“We were pleased to have held our 50th anniversary in 2014 and look forward to another 50 years supporting the community.

“The group itself has evolved over time with elements of it being different to what it is today. But we want community groups and organisations to understand we are here to support.”

The Club invests much of their funds into a 17-seater minibus Charity Trust offering transportation to people who may require it free of charge. Those using the minibus need to provide the driver.

This group keeps you occupied and is a brilliant opportunity to make new friends.I encourage more people to become a member.

They have previously supported Scout and Guide groups, people who are elderly, and anyone else who may need its use.

Hiring a minibus can cost more than £100 a time. This service allows organisations to save cash investing in other more beneficial areas.

It also provides transportation to many people who may otherwise be limited regarding where they can travel.

Mr Newnes continued: “We have a minibus for the use of the community, so welcome more people to use it.

“Usually we are approached and asked for help and someone is on hand to provide it. To contact us to use the minibus.”
