Planning ahead at East Meon

Residents from across East Meon have voted in favour of planners using the ‘East Meon Neighbourhood Plan (EMNP)’ to help decide planning applications in the area.

A local referendum asking, “should South Downs National Park Authority use the plan to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area,” had 303 residents vote for the motion with 58 against.

There were no spoilt ballot papers in the vote overseen by East Hampshire District Council last month.

The EMNP in effect is a village version of a Local Plan placed together by members of the community.

The community initiative contains locally-devised recommendations and policies on where and how a development should happen.

The Directory Group covers the following areas within Hampshire and West Sussex: Petersfield, Clanfield, Hayling Island, Cowplain, Waterlooville, Denmead, Purbrook, Widley, Farlington, Cosham, Drayton, Havant, Rowlands Castle, Emsworth, Southbourne, Westbourne, Bosham, Portsmouth, Alton, Alresford, Bentley, Four Marks and Meon Valley
