The Meon Valley Food Bank serving the Meon Valley area of Hampshire, including Bishops Waltham, Wickham, Droxford, West Meon and other villages in the area, provides food for hundreds of people in need.
In 2016 support was provided to 415 people across the area – including 232 children.
The centre is open every Tuesday from 10am to 3pm based at Bishops Waltham Youth Hall, Malt Lane, opposite Budgens.
The church-led community focuses on enabling the community to practically support local people who are at crisis point with the provision of food.
Sue Pardon, manager at the Food Bank, writes: “Those in need may have up to four vouchers a year.
“To give you an idea, a family of four will need about 12 shopping bags of food to help them through a week. That’s a lot of tins.
“Support comes with a mix of tins, packets and boxed food kindly donated by local churches (we now have 20 local churches supporting us) The Bishop’s Waltham Youth Club, Bishops Waltham Rotary Club, Individuals, Budgens and the Southern Co-operative Wickham.”
