Calls to local people to engage with valuable community service
A community initiative is encouraging members of the public to engage with its services.
The Drayton and Farlington Action Group, which was founded in October 2002, exists to support people across the community in a variety of ways, from social activities through to other convenient services.
The organisation was launched following a local survey, in which a team of volunteers learned of the issues from residents across the area.
Concerns raised when the group launched include lack of local policing, limited facilities for young people, convenient shops and need for additional pedestrian crossings.
The group oversee the Drayton and Farlington Information Centre, a drop’n’shop service, free lunches at occasions in the year, such as Christmas day and other services too.
The information centre is the focal point for many of the projects overseen by the group, and offers a location for locals to gather.
Volunteers are continually required to assist with the varied activities at the centre. Anybody who may be interested in volunteering are to call (023) 9238 0000, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
