The Final Straw – Emsworth
A new community organisation will aim to eradicate the use of plastic straws and minimise the use of plastic altogether.
Bianca Carr, of The Final Straw Emsworth, which was launched in February, has been encouraged by the attention the project has received.
She said: “People seem to think recycling is the best way to go but that is not the answer. When recycling plastic, much of it can be broken down in to micro plastics which go into the ocean. It is everywhere.
“Everything ends up in the ocean. The micro plastics are then eaten by the fish, which ultimately ends up in to our food cycle. It is not on. The change needs to start here.”
Bianca was inspired to launch the project after seeing national campaigns fight against the issue. She has followed the same brand and similar values used by The Final Straw Cornwall.
The local project will also work with businesses’ in the area.
