Hayling Island RNLI Fundraisers top £40k in 2017
Hayling RNLI fundraising Chairman Siri Young, (pictured L with Audrey Layton) and her small team have succeeded beyond expectation this year in raising the huge sum of £42,481, which together with merchandise sales of £2891, makes a grand total of £45,472.
Siri is delighted with the sum raised and praised her team for all their hard work. She also expressed her gratitude, and that of the whole crew, to the many contributors and supporters. An anonymous donor donated £20,000, and Mrs Nicolson raised £1500 from her book sales. Sainsbury’s nominated us as Charity of 2017 and gave £850 whilst a young lady Scarlett Gladman baked cakes and sold them to her friends raising an amazing £98.
The annual events sponsoring the Station added to the funds, the Ship Inn Raft Race £800, Round the Island Kayak Event £500, Victory Athletic Club Relay Race £415 and the HISC Charity Race £332.
Branch events (Summer Fete, Street Collection and Lifeboat Open Day) totalled £3900, and the collection boxes £3025. Langbrook Farm continue to sponsor us with £268 this year and the Lifeboat Inn raised cash from their weekly meat raffle.
