Coffee Morning Provides Service To The Community - The Directory Group

Coffee morning provides service to the community

YOU will be welcome with open arms to our weekly coffee morning. That’s the message from volunteers at St Peter’s Church, in Petersfield, who serve free hot drinks and cake every Thursday morning.

The ‘Refresh’ event, which takes place throughout the year, from 10am until midday, provides a service for people across the local and surrounding areas.

Refresh was established by Hattie Hughes almost 5 years ago and the group has continually grown ever since.

Christine Rushton, who volunteers at the service, says their doors are open to all people across the area.

She said: “I encourage anyone from across our community to attend this event.

"Our job is to ensure every individual feels welcome and at home here at Refresh. The volunteers do a fantastic job at making homemade cakes and serving delicious tea and coffee - all of which is free."

The main objective of the coffee morning is to provide a welcoming atmosphere to people on all different walks of life.

Christine added: "Even though Petersfield is quite an affluent area, there are still many individuals who are homeless or may be lonely.

"This event is open to everyone. I encourage everyone to come along and see what we are about." The event is primarily reliant on donations.
