Adding a boost to your gardens outlook & growth
For many green-fingered enthusiasts, their primary focus will be to prepare the garden for the season ahead.
To make your garden more visually pleasing you can have a general tidy up by removing leaves and other debris from your flower borders, lawns and ponds. You can also cut back the old dead growth of deciduous grasses and herbaceous perennials. If your soil is workable you can dig a 5cm layer of organic matter such as well-rotted manure, compost or recycled green waste into empty garden borders. When ready, adding bulbs to your flower beds will see colours flourish throughout the spring and also into the summer.
For gardeners with a greenhouse, it would not hurt to give it a clean. Before long your greenhouse will be home to trays of seedlings and cuttings. Sweep out any plant debris on the floor and benches and disinfect with a hot solution of garden disinfectant. Make sure you disinfect the inside of the glass too; lingering pests and disease can survive in the smallest nooks and crannies. Ventilate your greenhouse well so it dries thoroughly.
Overall, enjoy your garden and appreciate what it provides when maintained throughout the year.
