Local community boogies at Port Solent
Yesterday, the local community embraced the sunny Bank Holiday Weekend by throwing on their dancing shoes and heading to Port Solent to eat, drink, sing and dance at the centre’s free live music event.
Portsmouth-based cover band, The Bootlegs was back by popular demand and entertained guests with a selection of well-known hits, including those by Elvis, The Beatles and Oasis. Another favourite from a previous year, Thee Sultan Sheiks, returned to rock crowds, adding a humorous twist to classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Five-piece Portsmouth cover band, Cadency, also joined the line-up, with tunes that made visitors sing and dance the day away.
Port Solent’s Lisa Fowler, said: “We’re delighted to have hosted yet another popular live music event. It was great to see so many people turn up for the occasion and really get involved; singing, dancing and totally embracing the music and sunshine.
“We welcomed back Thee Sultan Sheiks and The Bootlegs, which the crowd thoroughly enjoyed, and new arrival to this year, Cadency, who also went down a treat.”
