Sea Food Festival all set to Spice it up

Spice Island Chilli is an official sponsor and trader attending the second Portsmouth Seafood Festival, which returns to Gunwharf Quays this summer following the phenomenal success of 2017’s inaugural event.

Created in 2015 by Portsmouth born resident Liam Coleman, Spice Island Chilli perfectly reflects his combination of passions for the fiery fruit and Portsmouth’s adventurous maritime history.

A fusion of history and chilli, Liam creates popular handmade chilli sauces which are inspired by Portsmouth’s adventurous maritime history and seafaring trade routes and have attracted a cult following and are stocked by many local eateries.

Liam said: “We are incredibly excited and proud to be involved in the second Portsmouth Seafood Festival. Building upon the success of last year’s landmark event this year is shaping up to be bigger and better.

Portsmouth’s long and influential maritime history spans more than 800 years.

Geographically, Spice Island is the historic location of maritime trade and customs in the area of Portsea known as Old Portsmouth, which also contains Portsmouth’s very own working hub of fishing activity, The Camber Docks. All of which can be viewed from the Waterfront at Gunwharf Quays.

There’s synergy with past voyages of discovery and bringing our chilli products to the taste buds of a new audience. We like nothing better than hands-on involvement and chatting to those tasting or discovering our sauces for the first time.”

Building upon both the wide-ranging interest and local participation in 2017, this FREE weekend event, which takes place on June 30 and July 1, celebrates the city’s seafood and ancient fishing heritage.

Portsmouth Seafood Festival is open from 10am to 8pm Saturday and 10am to 7pm Sunday.
