Jane Austen Regency Week 16th To 24th June - The Directory Group

Jane Austen Regency Week - 16th to 24th June

The life of the internationally-acclaimed writer, Jane Austen, will be celebrated during a 9-day annual festival later this month.

The event, which will commence with Alton Regency Day, aims to educate people on the period of history in which she lived, from 16th to 24th June 2018.

Taking place right on our doorstep at Alton and Chawton, the commemoration began in 2005 as a single event, then grew to a weekend. In 2008, it launched with its current name and covers many different activities.

With various talks on Jane Austen and the era in which she lived, guided tours of Chawton House where her brother lived, tasteful cream tea, and stunning gardens to view, there will be something for all interests.

Additionally, there is the Jane Austen Trail, Jane Austen Town Walk and Jane Austen Literacy Walk.

As the yearly occasion continues to grow, Jane Austen devotees from the local area and beyond will come to enjoy the activities on offer.

The Jane Austen Regency Week is managed by volunteers and is a non-commercial based event. For more information on what is happening go to: www.janeaustenregencyweek.co.uk
