Walking for peace and raising cash for charity

Hundreds of people made great strides for good causes in May when they participated in a Petersfield fundraising walk.

The Charity Walk for Peace, which saw at least 325 walkers enjoy a three-and-a-half-mile stroll, organised by Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association, and East Hampshire District Council (EHDC), saw local people come together to raise money for various local charities.

The route was circular going through Petersfield, including the town centre and local landmarks, before finishing at the EHDC offices at Penns Place.

Deputy Leader of the District Council, Cllr Julie Butler, says it was a brilliant day.

She said: “It was amazing to see so many people turn up and sign up on the day to join us.

“We knew that over 100 had signed up before the event. It was overwhelming to see our numbers swell so much on the day. So many came along to take part in the 2018 walk and raise even more money for these fantastic charities”
