Church thanks community for generosity to support with restoring windows

A Clanfield church is thankful to the local community for generous donations which has allowed them to repair the West Window of its building.

The work, which was carried out by a specialist stonemason, has now made the window weatherproof.

Repairs were also made to the walls between the church and the car park.

Speaking on Clanfield Online, the church says: “Thank you for helping to repair St James: this is your parish church, which has been at the centre of the village for many centuries and continues to serve the modern community of Clanfield.”

Contributions from local people and various organisations, including Ken Moon’s Community Grant, Clanfield Challenge, Gibson and Gammon and many others made the restoration possible.

The help came after an appeal calling for people to help was launched in December of last year.

At least £2,000 was required to cover the cost of the areas which desperately needed repairing.
