A New Lodge Has Been Built for the Pupils of East Meon Primary School
A stunning new addition to an East Hampshire school is now open after five years of fundraising and hard work.
A crowd of around 20 supporters, donors and friends from East Meon, gathered outside for the opening ceremony and blessing. The pupils squealed with delight once the ribbon had been cut.
Work started on the £89,000 building early this year, but the aspirations were very different when the fundraising began. The original hope was to build an extension to the school hall. But, the anticipated costs and wait prompted a rethink with the school deciding to create a ‘breakout room’ instead. The lodge will host the school’s breakfast and after-school clubs. It is also an ideal space for interventions and periods when emotional support is needed.
Headteacher, Jenny Fenton, thanked everyone for their support!
“The children had a look inside! The squeal of delight from the pupils indicated that everyone was happy with it. It’s a space of tranquillity and enjoyment. All the hard work, resilience and determination the community has put into creating the lodge, has resulted in a beautiful space that will benefit children for many years to come.”
