Grace Hutton Says Goodbye to her Locks in Memory of her Mum
Grace Hutton, nine from Cosham raises money for Little Princess Trust and The Rowans Hospice in aid of her mum Paula Hutton who passed away from cancer in 2013.
Little Princess Trust is a charity which supplies, and funds high-quality wigs made of real hair to children who have hair loss because of cancer treatment or other illnesses. Whereas, the Rowans Hospice offers specialist palliative care to those with life-limiting illnesses.
Paula first discovered she had cancer when she lost feeling in her arm. She then found that it had spread to her lungs, brain and kidneys.
“I was anxious about shaving my hair off, but it’s for such an important cause. It is nice to feel proud of myself and to know that I helped people along the way”.
Grace and her sister Isabella Hutton, aged 11, are also currently using social media platforms to spread awareness. They have recently created a video which addressed the dangers of smoking and how it can cause cancer.
James Hutton (Grace's dad) states:
“The Rowans Hospital was extremely supportive. We can’t thank them enough. The head shave was grace’s decision. She wanted to give something back”.
Grace has raised so far £2,263.00 for The Rowans Hospice. To donate visit: justgiving.com/fundraising/gracehutton10. Or to find out more about the charity’s offerings visit www.rowanshospice.co.uk and www.littleprincesses.org.uk.
