The annual ship inn raft race will raise funds for the Hayling RNLI
The Ship Inn Raft Race will take place on Saturday 20 July and this year aims to increase entry numbers dramatically.
The annual event takes place at high tide to avoid difficult currents and is already up to 13 rafts, higher than the past few years. Mark Dawson, Manager at The Ship Inn hopes for as many as 18 rafts eventually to make this a record year, so if you’ve been thinking about entering, NOW is the time to get in touch with the Ship Inn (02392 471719) and get those entry forms and Rules of Entry.
The Ship Inn is running a BBQ and band and we hope for good weather and lots of spectators to support the raft teams. There are prizes to be won and the proceeds will go to the Hayling RNLI and another charity. The race will start at 14:45 and prior to that the judging of the rafts will take place, so come down for lunch and a drink and get a good spot from which to view the race. The two lifeboats will visit and safety is provided by privately owned RNLI crew ribs, so we all look forward to seeing you there.
