Rowans Hospice Charity launches virtual talent show Rowans’ Got Talent

Boosting spirits and entertaining the community, Rowans Hospice Charity launches virtual talent show Rowans’ Got Talent despite a third national lockdown.

With the nation having to once again ‘stay home to protect the NHS and save lives”, the Rowans Hospice Charity has launched its online talent show Rowans’ Got Talent to boost the community’s spirits and raise much-needed funds, as it continues to face devastating losses to income due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Following the recent announcement that the nation’s favourite ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ show has postponed filming for this year’s series until 2022, Rowans’ Got Talent is stepping into the breach. The Rowans’ Got Talent event invites anyone and everyone in the community keen to showcase their talent, to take part in this fabulous opportunity. So why not take time away from the pressures of the current situation, have some fun and entertain people, whilst helping to raise vital money for the Charity from the safety of your own home.

Anyone wanting to be the star of the Charity’s virtual Rowans’ Got Talent event, is invited to submit a 3-minute audition video to the Charity by 21 February. All entries will be shortlisted to ten finalists by 25 February, when the fun will really start to hot up. Following the shortlisting, the Charity will showcase the ten finalists’ show reels on its social media platforms, inviting the audience to cast a vote for their favourite on the Charity’s official RGT Facebook Poll, as well as make a donation to their favourite act’s JustGiving page.

Bringing the contest to a close, the Rowans’ Got Talent Final with all ten acts will be broadcast on Facebook on Saturday 27 March, when the overall winner will be decided by the final number of votes cast on the official Facebook poll.

Debbie Pick, Fundraising Event Lead at Rowans Hospice Charity, said, “People love the televised Britain’s Got Talent show and with that being cancelled for 2021, we really wanted to help boost everyone’s spirits during this latest lockdown. We don’t want to let the pandemic spoil our fun, so from the safety of our own homes, we’re launching our own virtual edition. It’s a great opportunity for anyone wanting to showcase their hidden talents, whether it’s singing, dancing, magic, musical theatre, or a complete Family act, absolutely anything goes. Dust off those top hats and dancing shoes, start limbering up the vocal chords and show us what you have got! If you want to take part, simply send us your 3-minute audition show-reel by 21 February and we will be in touch – good luck, we can’t wait to see what a talented community we live amongst!”

As well as casting a Facebook vote, the Charity is encouraging supporters of the final ten Rowans’ Got Talent acts to donate to their favourite act’s JustGiving page, helping to ensure that specialist end of life Hospice care is available for patients and families affected by progressive and life-limiting illnesses, now and into the future.
