Rowans Hospice Moonlit Memories
Rowans Hospice Charity is delighted to announce that the Moonlit Memories Event will be held on Saturday, 18 June 2022 at Castle Field, Southsea.
As we emerge from the many restrictions and lockdowns enforced over the last two years due to COVID-19, the Charity is beginning the long road to recovery after the devastating financial losses caused by the pandemic.
“We are delighted to be bringing back our iconic and much-loved, Moonlit Memories Event that we know so many people within our community have missed over the last two years. We were so grateful to be able to hold our Moon and Stars Memories Walk last year however restrictions were still in place and there was very much an element of uncertainty surrounding events at the time” said Carol Milner, the Charity's Director of Income Generation. “We are therefore so excited to be able to go ahead with our full Moonlit Memories Event this year which will be held on Saturday, 18 June 2022 and is open to everybody over the age of 11 years. We have a truly wonderful evening of entertainment planned and cannot wait to be reunited with our community. This is one of our most popular events of the year and we need your support more than ever to help the Charity in this critical time, whilst we do everything possible to recoup the financial losses suffered as a result of COVID-19”
The registration fee is £20.00 per person however we are delighted to offer an EARLY BIRDdiscount of £10.00 per person from Saturday, 16 April until Saturday, 30 April. We are asking participants to generate a suggested sponsorship target of £100 to support the Charity. The registration fee includes a Moonlit Memories t-shirt and every participant will be presented with a Moonlit Memories medal as they cross over the finish line.
The event will commence at 20:00hrs with entertainment at Castle Field to include the incredible Big Noise Samba Band and a Zumba warm up to cheer all of our walkers and runners on before they set off. Portsmouth Cathedral will also be open during the evening where all participants will be able to visit for a moment of reflection.
Rowans Hospice Charity is renowned for high quality palliative and specialist end of life care, with its role essential in supporting the NHS. As the Charity’s reliance on voluntary donations remains critical, it is calling upon the local community for help to generate vital and much-needed income. All funds generated through the Moonlit Memories Event will be supporting the future of Hospice care, not only for patients with life-limiting illnesses, but for their families and carers too. From the moment of diagnosis through to bereavement support, all care is given without charge.
Concluding, Carol Milner said, “If you have ever had any contact with Rowans Hospice, you will appreciate just how important the Charity is to the local community. But even if you haven’t been in contact before, please consider registering today to support local Hospice care. We cannot thank all our supporters enough and look forward to seeing them all very soon.”
